THE DUO GLOSSARY

This is a collection of terms we use in our projects and processes. Some of these you may have heard before but some you might not so we created this glossary to help familiarize yourself.

ALPHA DESIGN

A prototype of the website, a visual representation of what a website will look like.

BRAND GUIDELINES / GUIDES

A set of rules on how your brand communication works. This includes visuals as well as key messages, voice, tone, etc.

CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Often abbreviated as CMS. A content management system is a software application or set of related programs that are used to create and manage digital content.

DOMAIN NAME

A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet. the part of a network address that identifies it as belonging to a particular domain.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Google Analytics is a software that is connected to your website through a piece of tracking code. This code tracks and reports website traffic.

HIGH-RESOLUTION (HI-RES) LOGO FILES

HOSTING SERVICES

Technologies/Services that allow the webpage or website to be viewed on the internet.

SITEMAPS

A visual representation of a website. They are organized lists or flow chart diagrams that shows connections between web pages, web page trees, and website content.

VECTOR FILE (LOGO, ETC.)

A small, scalable, and editable image that provides designers infinite freedom when it comes to graphic design and illustration. As such, vector images are ideal for graphics such company logos, banner ads, and other design images that often require scaling. Vector files are often .AI, .EPS or .PDF file formats.

WIREFRAMES

A visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website. Wireframes typically display the functional elements of a website or page, and are used for planning a site’s structure and functionality.
